Introducing PaulDyer.com

Assembled by: Brian Ledebur under Branding & Design and News and Web Development

A few months ago, Dr. Paul Dyer came to us with an idea for a site to help promote and educate users on his Sacred Path, Joyful Journey process. After some initial discovery, it was decided we’d start with a relatively straightforward WordPress blog site. This site would allow Paul to share thoughts, ideas and resources while encouraging discussion from the user community.

Since that time the site has evolved into a comprehensive resource for people to find true meaning and happiness in their lives, and Caxiam Group’s relationship with Paul has evolved into that of a true friend to the team. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Paul, and are proud to present some of the results of our relationship. Continue Reading “Introducing PaulDyer.com”

Content is king. Make sure it doesn’t rule with a iron fist.

During the process, the role of content writer is often unclear and differs from project to project. When possible, we recommend employing a copywriting professional versed in the nuances of Web communication. Caxiam Group has the tools to provide such services, and if you are interested, we would invite you to inquire with us about these capabilities for your next project.

However, often our clients wish to provide their own content. In such situations, I thought it may be helpful to briefly outline a few guidelines to follow when developing content for the Web. Continue Reading “Content is king. Make sure it doesn’t rule with a iron fist.”

Content, content, content. But where does design fit in all of this?

When it comes to online communication, is our keyboard obsolete?

Assembled by: Brian Ledebur under Business

I read this article the other day, about some company’s hair-brained attempt to charge for usage of a sarcasm symbol. The idea is this — you pay them about $2, and you get to insert this special symbol denoting sarcasm in any of your future communications (email, text messages, Website comments, etc.).

Although I doubt this will catch on, it did get me thinking… with all of the text communication we partake in daily, is the standard keyboard in all of its 101-key glory really enough?

The problem with communicating via text is it’s impossible to convey a mood or voice — how many times have you read an email and wondered, “Is this person mad at me? Is he serious? Joking? Being sarcastic?” On the flip side, how often has an email you’ve written gotten you into trouble because it was misread (or misunderstood) by its recipient?

I know, our communications tools have evolved the ability to add little symbols like smiley faces and such. Is that enough? Especially for professional communication? Maybe it’s high time we expanded upon our standard keyboard — add some “mood” keys to help prevent our little misunderstandings.

Note: The author was attempting to be somewhat sarcastic when writing this post.
